Your College ITP Experience
The College ITP has been designed with the dynamic workplace environment of an intern pharmacist in mind. A range of learning activities are integrated throughout the year to consolidate and build upon the knowledge acquired through undergraduate training. Learning and assessment activities complement ‘on-the-job’ experiences whilst challenging interns to develop their skills and confidence as healthcare professionals.

Intern Workshops
The College ITP workshops are an integral part of the College training experience, allowing interns an opportunity to meet with peers and learn in an interactive group environment. The College ITP comprises two, workshops, which are spaced strategically throughout the year to assist you in preparing for your written and oral exams, as well as optional drop-in sessions. To fulfill the College ITP requirements, interns are required to attend both workshop sessions.
For convenience, workshops are held face to face in all states and territories as well as online. Multiple workshop options are available in capital cities to allow for smaller class sizes and increased interactivity.
Workshop 1:
This session is designed to introduce interns to the program and provide essential skills for success. Topics will include an overview of the intern year, along with tips for maximising the intern experience, an introduction to assessment tasks and how to complete them effectively, exam preparation strategies, and guidance on how to apply for and enrol in the intern exams. Additional advice will be provided on how to get the most out of your intern year. The session will feature industry experts who support the pharmacy profession.
Workshop 2:
Again focusing on working in groups and undertaking case studies, but with a specific and dedicated focus on getting you prepared for the all-important intern written and oral examinations. Interns will have the opportunity to take part in exercises to mimic key components the intern exams as well as benefit from the experienced advice of our knowledgeable College clinical tutors in how to prepare for the big day.
Drop In Sessions:
In addition to the workshops, we also offer non-mandatory drop-in sessions throughout the year. These 1-hour online sessions will provide support for interns with ITP assessments, exam preparation, case study reviews, guest speaker presentations, and the opportunity to ask questions to ITP Clinical Tutors. The sessions will be repeated regularly, allowing interns to attend at a time that best suits their schedule and workplace, no matter their location.
